an exploration of the intricacies of human connection from a fresh alternative pop angle

Stan and Macy and we have been working together for almost 5 years now. They met in school in Brighton age 12, became friends and begun to collaborate. In 2016, they officially formed their partnership and have been writing, recording and performing together since. They write alternative pop music which explores human connection through poetic lyrics and unique sound and harmony, and all their music is home-recorded and produced by Stan.

Throughout the past year…

They recently released their debut EP ‘Citrus’, as well as a music video for the title track which was directed by VMA-winning filmmaker, Mat Whitecross (Oasis: Supersonic and Coldplay: A Head Full Of Dreams). They received a shoutout on Coldplay’s Instagram story about the video. They’ve performed as much as possible live and online including on Chris Difford’s ‘The Social Club’, headlining Hoxton’s Underbelly and filming an at-home EP Session. They’ve received radio plays such as on BBC Radio London and being BBC Introducing South’s Featured Artist. Outline have gained press opportunities such as interviews and an Instagram takeover, as well as self-promoting through activities like painting a giant orange at Black Rock in Brighton. Throughout lockdown they have spent time living together to intensively workshop new music and are lining up gigs for this spring onwards.

I’m really excited for the future of Outline. They are only at the beginning of their music careers but they have already written some great songs which showcase their superb vocals that compliment each other so well both live & on record. They are definitely one’s to watch in the years to come!

Outline create refreshing and unique indie pop with incredible production values. Their single, Citrus, is no exception. It’s upbeat and filled with ear candy! They’re definitely one to watch this summer!

A really exciting prospect - teenage duo Outline deliver glorious harmonies that are framed by that rare thing, interesting and original songwriting. It’s been such a pleasure seeing Stan and Macy grow and their sound mature in the last two years.

There’s something remarkable going on with this pair. I’m not entirely sure what, but I do know I wasn’t accomplishing this quality in my teens. The harmonies are remarkable, the arrangements too. Lyrically they are youthfully surreal and they write, play and record it all themselves. People my age like to slag off the music the youth are making these days; it isn’t reflected here at all. This quality of songcraft nouse only improves with time. If they can do this in their mid teens, the future could be positively Bee Gees. Not signed or managed or ‘owt like that. And just a reminder: the last time I bigged up a Brighton teen duo on my FB page they turned out to be Rizzle Kicks

This tartly wonderful slice of summer pop is very very good. Also all the more so because Stan mixed it all himself (in the spare hours where he would have been doing A Levels?). Highly recommend a listen.
